Sunday School for 2025-6

CALLING SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS!

This year for children and youth Sunday School, we are trying a different model of teaching. Instead of asking teachers to commit to teaching for the whole academic year, we are looking for teachers who would be willing to commit to at least one block of teaching for the academic year (schedule is below).

 

There will be three age levels of Sunday school:

 

1) Godly Play (K3 through 1st grade)

 

2) Spark (2nd through 5th grade)

 

and

 

3) Echo (6th through 12th grades).

The latter two curricula are Lutheran programs highly recommended by Pastor Laura and used by other Episcopal churches in our area. They emphasize teaching the characters and foundational stories of the Old Testament so that we can better understand the teachings of Jesus and those of the New Testament. These curricula are designed to be user (i.e., teacher) friendly in that they require minimal preparation and knowledge. You don’t have to be a Bible expert to teach!

 

Your only requirements to teach are 1) you love kids!; and 2) you are up to date on Safe Church Training. If you don’t have the latter, we can easily get you set up to take the training online. Besides easing the burden off a small number of people, this model helps us to understand the need for our whole congregation to invest in raising up our kids with the right tools and outlook to grow in their faith. You can decide which age level you’d like to teach and when you would like to teach. Per Safe Church policies, there will always be two teachers per classroom, so you will not be by yourself!
