A Living Community

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church has served the Oak Ridge community for over six decades.

Our doors are open to all who are searching, all who are certain, and everyone in between.
Since 1956

Our Story

Established in 1956, St. Stephen’s has served Oak Ridge for more than sixty years. We are part of the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee and the worldwide Anglican Communion, a tradition that holds Scripture, reason, and tradition together as the pillars of faith.

What We Hold

A Generous Orthodoxy

We believe in a generous orthodoxy: rooted in the creeds, open to the questions, and moved by the Spirit. Whether you were raised in the church or have never set foot inside one, you will find a welcome here that is genuine and without condition. What Episcopalians believe, in more detail, is set out on What Episcopalians Believe.

Who Leads

Clergy, Staff, and Vestry

The parish is led by its clergy together with an elected lay vestry, because authority in the Episcopal Church is shared rather than held by clergy alone. See Clergy & Staff and Our Vestry.

How We Serve

Faith in Action

We live our faith through service, seeking justice and peace for our neighbors in Oak Ridge and beyond, through formation, outreach, music, hospitality, and pastoral care. See Ministries.

The Gospel at the Heart of Our Mission

Come and See

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.” Luke 4:18
